Restaurante Granada – São Martinho do Porto
The Granada Restaurant is ideally located along the far end of the promenade at São Martinho do Porto on the Silver Coast in Portugal. It looks directly over the bay and towards the ocean. A wonderful location to relax over a lazy lunch with a bottle of the local wine, or enjoy an evening meal as you watch the sun set over the bay.
The restaurant has been skilfully designed with comfortable seating. The floor to ceiling glass completely to the front and side, provides diners with the maximum vantage point to enjoy the views, regardless of where you are seated. There is an inside restaurant and also an outside patio area which is a fabulous place to sit out and bask under the blue skies and sunshine – there are umbrellas for shade.
The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive and will do their best to assist you with your choices.
The starters are wide ranging from the usual bread, manteiga (butter),
cheese and olives, to the more exotic smoked salmon rolls, stuffed with herb cheese and covered with a passion fruit sauce. Starters range in price from 3.25 to 15.50. The Portuguese cheese selection, with jam and walnuts is absolutely delicious and will easily feed 3 or 4 people.
The main menu is varied and provides a number of delicious meat, fish, salad and vegetarian dishes. My favourite is the individual Chateaubriand with herb and garlic sauce – it comes with a seasonal vegetable and batata frita (french fries), or if you ask for a salad instead of fries they will accommodate. The meat is cooked to perfection. The squid, which comes with a tomato and onion vinaigrette dressing, is also a very good selection and comes with potatoes and a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. Main dishes range in price from 12.50 to 18.50.
Vegetarian dishes and salads range from 12€ to 13.50€. The salads include chicken, smoked salmon and shrimp Caesar salad, For vegetarians there are grilled mushrooms, tofu and tofu salad. These are served with seasonal vegetables potatoes and a vinaigrette sauce.
If you have room for dessert there is a very good selection ranging in price from 4.50€ to 6.00€. Cheesecake, brownies, rocha pear in wine, pavlova with red fruits – there is a dessert to suit most palettes.
There is an extensive wine menu and the waiter will help you select an appropriate wine to accompany your food selection.
This Granada Restaurant ranks highly with the team at Spencer Becks and is well worth visiting if you are in São Martinho do Porto on the Silver Coast.
